Every Amorelle engagement ring with a centre diamond uses a lab-grown stone, certified by IGI.

What a lab-grown diamond is

It is a diamond. Same carbon crystal structure, same hardness, same optical properties, same fire and brilliance. The difference is where it formed: in a controlled environment over weeks rather than underground over an extremely long period.

A gemmologist cannot tell the two apart by eye. Identifying a lab-grown diamond requires specialist equipment that reads growth patterns and trace elements.

How they are made

Two methods are used commercially. HPHT reproduces the high pressure and high temperature conditions under which diamonds form naturally. CVD builds a crystal layer by layer from carbon-rich gas onto a diamond seed. Both produce real diamond.

Certification

The centre diamond in our engagement rings is certified by IGI, the International Gemological Institute. The certificate documents the stone's carat weight, cut, colour and clarity, so its character is recorded rather than described loosely.

Small accent and pave stones are not individually certified. This is standard across the industry: certification applies to the centre stone.

The four Cs, briefly

  • Cut is what makes a diamond bright. It matters more to how a stone looks than anything else on this list.
  • Colour is graded from colourless downward. In a warm metal like yellow gold, a faint tint is very hard to see.
  • Clarity describes internal characteristics. Many are invisible without magnification.
  • Carat is weight, not size. Two stones of equal carat can look quite different depending on how they are cut.

Why we use them

Lab-grown stones let us offer a larger, better-cut centre diamond for a given budget, with documented origin. That is the whole of it.
